Due to the threat of inclement weather, the Upstate South Carolina TUBACHRISTMAS concert scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14 at 11:30 a.m. at the UCB Ice on Main in downtown Greenville will now take place at 11:30 a.m. in Daniel Recital Hall on the Furman campus.

Daniel Recital Hall is located inside the Homozel Mickel Music Building situated adjacent to McAlister Auditorium.  Registration and rehearsal schedule for the performers will remain at the original published location and time.

The concert is free. There is a small cost to participate as a performer. Euphonium (treble or bass), tuba and Sousaphone players are encouraged to take part in the event. Details about how to be a performer may be found here.

Furman Music Department chair Dr. Mark Britt is coordinating the concert and will conduct with Dr. David Stern of Anderson University.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of TUBACHRISTMAS concerts/events presented throughout the world. The celebration was started as a tribute to legendary tuba player and teacher William Bell, who was born on Christmas Day in 1902. The first TUBACHRISTMAS took place in 1974 at the Rockefeller Plaza Ice Rink in New York City.
